St. Joseph’s Hospital Health Center Cardiac Catheterization Lab Addition,
Syracuse, New York

This project engaged the services of structural engineering and landscape architecture for a new 4,600-square-foot second floor addition to the hospital. KHH engineers designed the structure so that future floors could be added. The landscape architects were challenged to replace an existing outdoor seating area with a more distinctive and appealing gathering space, blending with but clearly delineated from the urban environment. Because the area was partly beneath the new addition, much of it was hardscaped with pavers, decorative stone mulch and boulders. New trees, shrubs and lawn were also added, providing a secure, open and park-like setting for employees and visitors alike.
